Fotografie im urbanen Raum – ohne Menschen? Ist das noch Streetfotografie oder nicht? Ist das Architekturfotografie? Gehört das gar in die Schublade Interieur?
Ich gehe an die Frage eher leidenschaftslos und vor allem undogmatisch heran. Mitunter spürt man die Abwesenheit von Menschen im urbanen Raum. Mitunter sind es die Bauten und Fassaden, die das Motiv sind. Die Stadt, die von Menschen geschaffen und von ihnen belebt wird, sie findet sich in den Fotos wieder. Besondere Aufmerksamkeit richte ich auf die U-Bahnhöfe, deren Architektur im Licht des Underground oft einen ganz besonderen Glanz erfährt. Eine Schublade, in die die Fotos dieser Sammlung hineinpassen würden, braucht es dafür eigentlich nicht. Zumindest nicht für mich.
Photography in urban areas – without people? Is this still street photography or not? Is this architectural photography? Does this even belong in the interior drawer?
I approach the question rather dispassionately and, above all, undogmatically. Sometimes you can feel the absence of people in urban spaces. Sometimes it is the buildings and facades that are the motif. The city, which is created by people and enlivened by them, is reflected in the photos. You don’t actually need a drawer into which they would fit. At least not for me.
