Die Stadt, wie sie sich in Schwarz-Weiß präsentiert …

Blickrichtungen auf Berlin und Hamburg. Blicke in die Stadt und unter die Stadt.

Es sind meist die Tage, an denen sich der Himmel in Grau präsentiert. Dann greife ich zur Mono, wenn ich – trotz trüben Lichts – zum Fotografieren losziehe. Gern aber auch an Abenden im Herbst und Winter, wenn ich die Lichter der Stadt in ihren Schattierungen, aber ohne Farben einfangen möchte. Mit dem Wegfall der Farbe entfällt auch jede Ablenkung, die die Farbe erzielt. Alles beschränkt sich auf Schwarz und Weiß – in ihren jeweiligen Nuancen. Und diese Beschränkung bringt mitunter die Straße zum Leuchten, obwohl es eigentlich nur ein trüber und wenig gemütlicher Moment ist, an dem sie ins Bild genommen wird.

Wenn ich nicht mit dem B&W-Blick losgezogen wäre, wäre ich vermutlich an solchen Tagen gar nicht aus dem Haus gegangen. Ich empfehle sehr, tatsächlich „nur“ mit dem Schwarz-Weiß-Blick unterwegs zu sein. Denen nur dann sieht man tatsächlich auch mit diesem Blick. Aber das ist mein Approach, der sich für mich als passend erwiesen hat. Zur Frage „Farbe… oder Schwarz-Weiß?“ finden sich weitere Gedanken hier.

These are usually days when the sky is gray. Then I reach for the mono when I go out to take photos – despite the dim light. But I also like it on evenings in autumn and winter when I want to capture the city lights in their shades but without colors. With the elimination of the color, any distraction that the color creates also disappears. Everything is limited to black and white – in their respective nuances. And this limitation sometimes makes the street shine, even though it is actually just a dull and uncomfortable moment when it is captured in the picture.

If I hadn’t started out with the B&W look, I probably wouldn’t have left the house at all on days like that. I highly recommend actually “only” taking a black and white view. Only then can you actually see them with this look. But this is my approach, which has proven to be suitable for me. To the question „color… or black and white?“ my thoughts can be found here.
